Westgate SuperBook Sports Wagering App Now Available

Westgate SuperBook
Westgate SuperBook App

Westgate SuperBook now has sports wagering app. The long-awaited app was rumored to be released in time for the beginning of the NFL season. The release date may have missed that mark but it will be available in time to use during the Super Bowl.

The Westgate SuperBook is the king of prop bets for the Super Bowl. An app is a great way to navigate through the hundreds of wagering options that Westgate SuperBook will have for the Super Bowl.

Nevada sports wagering apps can only be used in Nevada. Your mobile signal is tracked by GPS and satellite. Your wagering account must be filled in person at the SuperBook. No credit cards are allowed.

The app uses Miomni Gaming software which you’ll find in the B-Connected Sports (Boyd Gaming), Aliente Sports and soon to be available Wynn sports wagering app. The downside with this app is that you must turn your wifi off to use it. The upside is that the SuperBook has odds you won’t find anywhere else (like Aussie Rules Football!).

You’ll need to be a member of the Westgate players club and deposit at least $100 to start. If you’re a bigger bettor you’ll be happy to know that limits should be about half of what you can place in the casino. The upcoming Wynn app will supposedly have limits between $300-$500.

Low Rollers Getting A Sports Book at Casino Royale

William Hill Sports Book Logo
William Hill

This morning I was working on a guide to which sports book operator was in each casino for Covers.com (expect to see it in a few days).

One Vegas Strip casino was noticeably absent from the list – Casino Royale. The home of $1 Michelob bottles was devoid of a space to wager and watch sports.

Coincidentally plans for a sports book at Casino Royale were revealed this afternoon. William Hill will be operating the new Casino Royale sports book that will be tied into a sports bar in the center the casino.

William Hill currently operates only one sports book on the Vegas Strip at SLS Las Vegas. Details are limited but here’s the press release for your information. I’ll have more information as it’s revealed.

This Casino Royale sports book could become a great destination for low rollers on the Vegas Strip.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (SEPTEMBER 28, 2015) – William Hill, the world’s leading sports betting company, is
partnering with Casino Royale to open the newest sports book in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.

Coming this winter, subject to regulatory approval, the full-service William Hill Sports Book at Casino Royale will be part of an all-new sports bar in the heart of the casino, surrounded by popular outlets, such as Denny’s, Outback Steakhouse, Walgreens and White Castle.

William Hill features the state’s largest wagering menu, including the best parlay card payouts in Nevada and LIVE continuous InPlay wagering on football, basketball, baseball, and soccer.

“We are thrilled to partner with Casino Royale to bring the William Hill Sports Book experience to the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. Casino Royale has put together a group of great brands andwe’reexcited to be part of the line-up”, said William Hill U.S. Chief Executive Officer, Joe Asher.

William Hill US operates 104 race and sports books in Nevada and the state’s leading mobile sports betting app. Founded in 1934, William Hill is the UK’s largest bookmaker with 2,400 betting shops and operates one of the world’s leading online betting and gaming businesses.

Green Valley Ranch Sports Book Renovations Coming Soon

Red Rock Sports Book
Red Rock Sports Book Screens Coming To Green Valley Ranch Soon

It seems like every week there’s news about a sports book in Vegas getting an upgrade. That’s wonderful news to me! Last week Station Casinos said that they will be installing the same amazing screens from the Red Rock Resort sports book into another property.

The next Station casino to get the beautiful screen experience is none other than Green Valley Ranch.

Green Valley Ranch is the other top-tier Station property besides Red Rock so this renovation makes sense. The sports book at Green Valley Ranch is already one of the best things about that casino and this upgrade will only make it better. These new screens will probably make the Green Valley Ranch sports book the best you’ll find in the Henderson area.

Station Casinos says that installation on the new screens at the Green Valley Ranch sports book will be in the “near future.”

Each screen at Red Rock took a week to install. I’m not sure I see Green Valley Ranch potentially missing a screen during football season. I’m guessing Green Valley Ranch’s “near future” will be closer to February or March and in time for March Madness, but that’s just a guess.

Not to sound too hyperbolic but between the screen renovations at Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch and Westgate sports books there’s almost no reason to watch a game on the Vegas Strip.

A Look At The Renovated Red Rock Sports Book

Red Rock Sports Book
Red Rock Sports Book

I’ve been posting pictures and updates on the renovation of the Red Rock sports book as it’s been happening here and on twitter, instagram and facebook. Unlike some other recent sports book renovations this was mainly a television screen upgrade. Boy is this an upgrade.

Even at 20% brightness the new screens at the Red Rock sports book are the brightest and clearest screens you’ll find in any Vegas sports book.

The comparison I’ve heard most from the pictures I’ve posted are that they look like The Venetian sports book screens. The Venetian is generally lauded as having the best screens in Las Vegas. I’ll go out on a limb and say The Venetian screens are the second best now and here’s why.

The new 2.5mm NanoSlim LED displays are the largest of their kind in North America. They replace the rear projection systems that were installed when Red Rock Resort opened. The 2.5mm space between pixels offers almost twice the clarity of the old 4mm pixel spacing.

All three of the 17′ x 31.5′ screen use 4K Ultra HD technology and can each be configured to display screens in 45 different ways. That number can and will increase.

Here’s a look at what a typical afternoon at the Red Rock sports book will look like. Notice how the lines are displayed since it’s a slow day.

Red Rock Sports Book

When seasons change and there’s a need to show lines for football, baseball, basketball and hockey the configurations can be changed quickly so you don’t have to wait for rotating boards only showing limited lines. This will be great in the winter.

Red Rock Sports Book

When there are nights with standalone football games the screens can be changed from showing multiple games to one big 17 x 31 foot TV. You could probably see this display from the Vegas Strip if it were outside. Check out that middle screen.

The next photo is kind of blurry on purpose (not really but it makes my point). The scroll at the bottom of the screens is huge and easy to read while the fonts used for the lines are smaller and a little more difficult to read unless you have good vision or are close to the screens. The size isn’t bad but it’s something that stood out to me.

Red Rock Sports Book

As I mentioned earlier this was only a viewing upgrade. The seat configuration remains the same with 75% of the seats being chairs and desks while 25% are comfy lounge chairs. I’d prefer the seating to be the other way but the Red Rock sports book still gets a lot of people betting on the ponies.

The new screens at the Red Rock sports book are the best you’ll find in Las Vegas. I live right down the street so and my opinion for this sports book may have a little bias.

While The Venetian may offer the best screens on the Vegas Strip but I can’t vouch for it being the best sports book since you probably won’t get a seat during football season unless you’re set up with a CG Technology account and bet with them while you’re watching games.

For comparison 98% of the seating at the Red Rock sports book is open to anyone who visits. The 2% is saved for VIP guests and higher tier Boarding Pass players club members.

The Mirage sports book is great but the clarity of their screens can’t be compared with Red Rock. When Westgate unveils their new sports book screens I’m told they will be similar but not as good as the Red Rock setup.

I’ve been recommending the Red Rock sports book to people even when the screens needed updating. Now that the screens have been upgraded I think the Red Rock sports book is easily one of the best sports books in Vegas. Easily.

Mandalay Bay Sports Book On Deck For Renovations

Mandalay Bay Sports Book
Mandalay Bay Sports Book

Hidden deep inside an awesome #LongRead article called “Evolution of The Sportsbook” on Covers last week was a nugget about which MGM Resorts hotel will renovate their sports book next.

Technically it won’t be next since Monte Carlo is closing and moving their sports book but it looks like Mandalay Bay is on deck for some well deserved changes.

Rood said Mandalay Bay will hopefully get that treatment next spring or summer, with a completion date ahead of the 2016 football season.

This isn’t a proclamation that Mandalay Bay will definitely have their sports book updated but it does fit into a timeline I heard about last year. This would make sense since for MGM Resorts as they’ve updated almost every facet of Mandalay Bay in the past few years (See Delano here, Mandalay Bay here).

A Mandalay Bay renovation would also make sense since MGM Resorts has renovated their other larger sports books at The Mirage, Bellagio, Aria and (soon) Monte Carlo, in the past few years.

The Mandalay Bay sports book space is huge and could be great but is very very dated. The TV screens and seating may be the same from when the property opened in 1999.

The Mandalay Bay sports book ushered in a whole new VIP level of sports book experience years ago. They were one of the first sports books, if not the first, in Vegas to offer bottle service (see Vegas Chatter article). You now see this type of VIP service available at many different sports books around Vegas.

Sake Rok In, Monte Carlo Sportsbook Out

Monte Carlo Sportsbook

On July 8, I posted the rumor that the Monte Carlo sportsbook would be moving to a new location as MGM Resorts continued construction of  park project.

Yesterday Eater Vegas found some renderings of a new restaurant called Sake Rok that gave a little more insight to the Monte Carlo sportsbook moving.

Before the announcement of the Monte Carlo building a $100 million, 5,300 seat, theater and concert hall, Sake Rok was positioned to be built as an addition to the southern side of the resort, taking over space at the rear of their sports book. The renderings also indicate an outdoor dining area was scheduled to The Park, minus the theatrical presentations inside. An official location for the sushi restaurant has yet to be announced.

Sake Rok is scheduled to open in the spring of 2016 but specific details like time and date of Sake Rok construction and sportsbook closure have not been released by MGM Resorts. You can see more renderings of Sake Rok at Ray Design Environments.

A plan for the new sportsbook at Monte Carlo has not been revealed yet. This Covers article about the “Evolution of Sportsbooks” will give you some insight how MGM Resorts has approached their recent sportsbook renovations.

History tells us that MGM Resorts will have a new Monte Carlo sportsbook ready in time for the first weekend of March Madness.

You may remember that The Mirage sportsbook renovations were finished just before March Madness in 2013. Moving the Monte Carlo sportsbook to become a part of The Pub seems more realistic by the day. I’ll share details on that as soon as they’re revealed.

Red Rock Sportsbook Being Renovated

Red Rock Sportsbook
Red Rock Sportsbook

If you’ve read this blog for a while or follow me on twitter you probably know that Red Rock Resort is my 2nd office and local bar. During the summer I’m at the casino at least 2-3 times a week. That covered parking is nice on hot and sunny days.

On a good day I’ll work in a quiet area then head to the sportsbook for some low key work. For the past week or so I’ve noticed that there has been a drop cloth covering one of the large screens. On my last visit (Saturday) I noticed that the cloth moved to the center screen revealing a new clear screen to the left.

You may not be able to tell from the photo above but the clarity from the screen all the way on the right is much much better. The screen upgrade is definitely overdue and come just in time for football season.

While I was in the sportsbook I think I heard improved audio but I could have just been looking for that. I’m told that I’ll get an overview of the full upgrades in a few weeks.

The Red Rock sportsbook is probably the best off strip sportsbook besides the Westgate. I look forward to seeing what else they do. Soon enough.

UPDATE: They’ve installed the 2nd of 3 screens.

UPDATE 2: Screen installation is complete.

Rumors: Cosmopolitan And Monte Carlo Sportsbook Moving

Monte Carlo Sportsbook
Monte Carlo Sportsbook

Rumors are all over the place with Monte Carlo heading deep into construction of The Park. This park-like area will be located between Monte Carlo and New York-New York leading to the new arena that’s scheduled to open next year.

Monte Carlo has undergone some major changes with its Vegas Strip frontage and now they’re moving to the side leading to the arena. Similarly (but not the same) the Cosmo is renovating its casino floor. Here’s the juice I’m hearing:

Monte Carlo Rumors

Vegas Eater says that the Blue Man Group Theater will be closing and becoming a larger theater to be used as a concert hall. Now comes rumor (on the Five Hundy By Midnight Podcast) that the Monte Carlo sportsbook will be closing and moving into The Pub. This would make The Pub more of a sports lounge and closer to what you see at Bellagio and The Mirage.

If this rumor is true it wouldn’t be surprising to see the poker room also close and move. The sportsbook and poker room occupy the same side of the casino so it might make sense to see both shuttered to make way for the planned restaurants and bars.

Possibility: Both make sense and sound logical.

Cosmopolitan Rumors

Last month I wrote about the rumor that Cosmopolitan may be getting a poker room on Vegas Chatter. That still hasn’t come to fruition but there’s another rumor about their tiny CG Technology sportsbook.

Word is that the sportsbook will be moving from the second floor to the first floor with the other casino gaming. I reached out to a CG Technology rep on twitter and didn’t receive a response like I have every other question I’ve asked.

Possibility: Not sure the majority of customers would care about either. I could make a case for both but I can also see bean counters not caring about such a small piece of gaming revenue (about 2%-3% total).

Rumors are a hit and miss proposition. Sometimes they’re true and sometimes they’re not. The success rate I’ve had with rumors that make sense is about 50%. If that holds true here then we should see two of the rumors mentioned above come true. Time will tell as construction is progressing at Monte Carlo and Cosmo is quietly making changes to their property.
