I was working on blurbs for some of my favorite places to eat, drink and gamble in Las Vegas but they were getting too wordy so I decided to just list them.
Merry Christmas and enjoy the rest of the holiday season!
Downtown Blackjack – Golden Gate Strip Blackjack – Wynn and Palazzo Downtown Craps – Golden Gate Strip Craps – Palazzo Favorite Video Poker – Red Rock Downtown Hotel – The D Strip Hotel – Cosmopolitan Downtown Casino – The D Strip Casino – Bellagio Downtown Casino Bar – View Bar at The D Strip Casino Bar – Petrossian at Bellagio Cheap Strip Gambling – Bally’s Downtown Steakhouse – Andiamo’s Strip Steakhouse – SW Strip Burger – Holsteins at Cosmopolitan Strip Sportsbook – The Venetian Off-Strip Sportsbook – Red Rock Cheap Eats – DuPar’s Pancakes Downtown Beer Joint – Pizza Rock or Main Street Station Bar Strip Beer Joint – Public House at The Venetian (The Pub at Monte Carlo is better but I rarely visit) Strip Cigar Joint – Andre’s at Monte Carlo Coffee – Sambalatte
This place is one of my favorite places on the vagas strip. I love the pool too. If i had one complaint its that its all the way on one end of the strip….
The location and lack of action on the north end of the Vegas strip has kept me from visiting Wynn and Encore. That’s a shame because I really like both casinos. Unfortunately most people want to meet or stay in the middle of the action. Even though The Palazzo and The Venetian are just across the street both seem to feel much closer to the action of the Vegas strip.
I’ve never heard of Gogobot before. Here’s what the website is all about.
Whether it is a week’s vacation, a business trip or a weekend getaway, we believe planning your trip should be almost as fun as the trip itself. We believe the best advice comes from people you trust – people like you – and not from anonymous strangers on the internet. We believe sharing your experiences should be as simple as touching the screen on your phone. We are passionate about technology and design and their power to reshape our world for the better.
There are a lot of awards about casino design and not much on the site’s content. With that being said, I can’t really hold their “Best Hotel” Awards with having any merit. Even though I really like the Cosmo, I’d trust Trip Advisor or Yelp before the editorial from a new website that I’ve never heard of.
Coco begins her stint in the lead role of Bo Peep at Peepshow on Monday at Planet Hollywood. Rather than looking at her role I figured that it would be more interesting to look back at the history of the leading ladies of Peepshow. It will also give the new big images on the site a workout. We’ll look at the most recent stars of the show and go back to the beginning of the show.
Angel Porrino – Angel was Holly Madison’s assistant who rose to “stardom” and followed in Holly’s footsteps to star in “Absinthe” and just filled in for Holly and before Coco.
Holly Madison – Holly became famous for appearing in Playboy and then as being Hugh Hefner‘s girlfriend and then on The Girls Next Door. She may not have been the most famous Bo Peep but she left as the most famous.
Aubrey O’Day – Aubrey was part of pop/R&B group Danity Kane that blossomed from Puff Daddy‘s (I think that was his name then) Making The Band on MTV. I watched that show and own the first Danity Kane album because I had a little crush on Aubrey. Aubrey was relatively important in the history of the show as she was younger and appealed to a younger audience than the women before her.
Mel B. – Mel B. is easily the most famous PeepShow lead. Mel B. was part of the Spice Girls and then was on various TV shows. She is one of the older leads, but very fit. I still get incoming searches looking for “Mel B. Nude”. That must mean something.
Kelly Monaco – Kelly Monaco was the first woman in the lead role of PeepShow. To be frank I’m not sure why she was chosen but she was on TV and didn’t seem afraid to show some flesh as she also appeared in Playboy and also appeared as Carmen Electra‘s body double.
Coco – Now we go back to the future of PeepShow. This picture is more of how you’ll see Coco. Coco is known mostly for having a big butt and being in Playboy. She’s been married to Ice-T since 2001 and they have a show on E! called Ice Loves Coco. She’ll be an interesting change for PeepShow and appeals to housewives as much as younger guys and girls.
I haven’t done a video poker check in a while and since I’m spending a night around Downtown Vegas next week I figured that I’d see what games are available in the area.
When I go on a solo trip to a casino I tend to play more video poker than table games. When I’m with others I tend to be more social and play blackjack, craps, etc.
If you’re a video poker player in Las Vegas then you want to play downtown. There are games with positive returns in almost every casino. If you’re like me and prefer to play perfectly instead of playing a game with plus EV, there is 9/6 Jacks or Better (99.56% return) or 8/5 Bonus Poker (99.17% return) readily available.
Here’s the rundown of the best video poker in downtown Vegas beginning with the casinos that have the most options for good video poker games.
The D – Long Bar video poker is not on this list. That game has about 94% returns.
I’ve been asked why I talking about downtown so much. There are a lot of reasons, but a few are good gambling, cheap food and drink and it’s relaxed atmosphere.
I like going downtown for a day/night to do some low brow eating, drinking and gambling. Nothing fancy is happening and I probably didn’t shower. You know, so I fit in. I don’t always want to gamble this way, but when I do these are the casinos I frequent downtown.
The Golden Gate casino is the oldest casino in Vegas and was recently renovated and while the casino floor is more cramped then most in Vegas, it’s decor is warm and it feels clean and is comfortable. It doesn’t hurt that the dealers are also go-go dancers, many of which aren’t ugly. The dealers are also the dancers and many of them are featured on the chips. On my last visit I was playing blackjack and noticed I kept losing when a specific dealer was on top of my chip stack. After telling the dealer to get rid of all chips with that girl she revealed that the girl on the chip was her best friend in the casino. We laughed, we both made money because doubled my buy in and I tip when I win. A good time was had by all.
Golden Gate is also home to DuPar’s Bakery and home of the best pancakes I’ve ever had. The drawn butter helps. A lot. A short stack is $6 and these make for a perfect late night snack. Just stay away from the coffee. It’s awful.
All of these reasons, make the Golden Gate one of my favorite casinos downtown.
