It feels as if there have been rumors of Rock in Rio festival coming to Las Vegas for a couple of years. It looks like those rumors may finally be true. Yesterday the Rock in Rio festival was announced to make its Vegas debut in May of 2015.
More interesting is that this isn’t an idea for a one-off festival. Rock in Rio seems to be the anchor for building the City of Rock – a permanent city and tribute to rock music with 5 concert stages and multiple attractions including a ferris wheel and zipline. City of Rock will be built next to Circus Circus and across the street from SLS Las Vegas.
The concept sounds really cool but unrealistic and it certainly won’t look like their promo video below. Las Vegas can barely support its existing concert venues adding 5 more stages to fill won’t be easy. Additionally MGM Resorts is building an arena that seats another 20,000 people behind Monte Carlo and New York New York.
I love the concept of City of Rock but don’t see it quite coming out the way they envision. Vegas Chatter has more details on City of Rock if you’re curious about specifics and more details.
Not only did the “Number of the Beast” find me playing video poker, but a hand I like to call “The number plus one” found me when I got 4 6’s! I was playing a video poker variant that has a wheel feature when I got the four of a kind. The SPIN feature covered up the 4OAK so I wasn’t able to capture it. Should I see this rare number + 1 on a normal video poker game I’ll be sure snap a pic and share on tumblr.
I’m not sure how many times the beast and I will cross paths in the future without being repetitive. It’s difficult to get the phone out without being yelled at when playing blackjack or 3 card poker but last week I was playing video poker and the number of the beast found me for the first time in a while.

Yeah! I found more evil (haunted in this case) in Las Vegas. Halloween in November continues! Unfortunately, there’s no Iron Maiden needed here. Although we’re close to “The Number of The Beast”. I recently found reddit and have fun in the various Las Vegas and gaming boards.
Yesterday I saw noticed a post about a potentially haunted house. As I said yesterday, I don’t mess with the supernatural so I won’t post a picture of this haunted house. However, it seems to be located across the street from the estate owned by WAYNE NEWTON I figured I’d show that instead. The house is located at 6660 Pecos Road. Here’s the question posed on reddit.
The address is 6660 Pecos Road, right across the street from Wayne Newton’s pad. Google that address and go into street view. WTF is going on?
The only info I came across about the house’s history was that a teenage girl was kidnapped by bikers and brought to the house. She was ritualized and killed and supposedly the cops found satanic markings written in blood on the floors and walls.
I gotta check this place out now!
On the post comments people are saying that this is urban legend, but the house is part of a haunted Vegas tour so who knows the truth. Regardless of this house being haunted I’ve never been to this area and there seem to be a lot of cool old houses in the area, including Mike Tyson‘s house.
Being from the east coast I’m fascinated by “old money” on the west coast. I found an old money area just outside of the north end of the Vegas strip and was loving it. Coincidentally (or not) these little areas of old money seem to be surrounded by poverty. I will have to check this out.
Roulette history rumors that the game was invented by a mad Chinese monk way back in the fourteenth century. The truth is no one really knows who the true founder of the game really is but the legend makes room for a great topic of conversation amongst casino dealers and those interested in the game.
The rumor goes along these lines, this Chinese monk invented the game of roulette but then while trying to find a system to crack the game went mad and killed himself he apparently added several references to the number 666 all over roulette.
For instance add all the numbers on the roulette wheel 1 thru 36 and they total exactly 666.
Add any three numbers on the layout horizontally and you will always get a reference to the number 6. Eg. 1+2+3=6 , 16+17+18=51 (added together 5+1=6)
Add any three numbers diagonally and get a number that relates to 6. Eg. 28+26+24=78 then 7+8=15 then 1+5=6 or 3+5+7=15 then 1+5=6
Add the numbers making up each dozen and you get 78 for the first dozen 7+8=15 then 1+5=6 Second dozen gives you 222 then 2+2+2=6 Third dozen 366 then 3+6+6=15 then 1+5=6
The funny thing is the game of roulette is marked with the number 6 all throughout, it’s up to you whether or not you believe the Chinese mad monk inventing roulette story or not.
If you’re a roulette player these evils are definitely something to consider. I don’t mess with the supernatural and this just gives me more reason to avoid roulette.
My timing is off. I know. Halloween would have been a better period to bring evil into casino gaming. Regardless, this is fun and I’ll stick to craps. 🙂
It’s always fun when I can find an excuse to work Iron Maiden into my day. Today’s “Number Of The Beast” tidbit is that the numbers on a roulette wheel add up to 666. As we all know, 666 is the number of the beast. If you’re not aware, please enjoy the video below.

I’m not the biggest Iron Maiden fan in the world, but I like them and know the hits. When I gamble I think about them often. Specifically when I play video poker and 3 Card Poker I think of Iron Maiden.
If I’m I’m dealt a pair of 6’s in either game I never ask for a third 6. I always ask for “Number of the Beast“. Sometimes I’ll say it to myself and sometimes I’ll say it out loud.
I was playing 3 Card Poker at Paris Las Vegas after dining at Gordon Ramsey Steak (see review at Vegas Chatter) when I saw two 6’s and just put the cards down. I was joking with the pit boss all night and sometimes when he walked over he’d look at my cards. This time he did and I asked if I got the number of the beast he replied with “you and I are probably the only 2 people in here that might get that reference.” After we chuckled I asked again and he said “no.”
I finished that session even, but had a blast with the players, dealers and pit boss. I also had a handful or Grand Marnier, which didn’t hurt.
